Hungarian jazz-singer and songwriter, Ibolya Nemeth, creates a unique fusion influenced by traditional jazz, classical music, pop, and Hungarian folk music. With a constant curiosity about the true meaning of songs, she places lyrics as the focal point of her music, making storytelling the centerpiece of her art.

 

Ibolya has performed across Europe including Austria, Germany, Croatia, and Italy with various musical formations. In 2023, she released her first duo album “Perseids” by NeNe with jazz-pianist Markus Neuwirth. Her synth-pop project, Lyobia, debuted its single “Neon Pink” in 2022. She released two more singles that same year, “Darlin’” and “Night Time Rain”.

 

At the International Big Band Composition Competition 
JAZZ COMP GRAZ 2020/2021, Ibolya performed the final ten contemporary compositions with the KUG Jazz Orchestra, releasing an album of the concert. She also participated in PRESENCE, an improvisational contemporary performance. 

 

Ibolya holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Vocals as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. She studied under renowned jazz musicians such as Dena DeRose, Ed Partyka, Luis Bonilla, and Michael Abene, among others. Additionally, she participated in workshops with artists including Samara Joy, Jane Monheit, Jazzmeia Horn, Jim Snidero, Theo Bleckmann, Norma Winstone, Sheila Jordan, and many more.

 

Ibolya is currently based in Austria where she teaches jazz and pop voice at various music schools while finishing her Master of Arts in Music Education in Vocal at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
